Press Release: Seminar on Investment Opportunities in India organized in Beijing

In a continuation of its efforts to boost Chinese investments in India, the Embassy of India organized a Seminar on Investment Opportunities in India in Beijing on 6th December 2017.

Ambassador Gautam Bambawale delivered welcome remarks at the event and citing the tremendous success enjoyed by Chinese companies like Oppo, encouraged the participants to invest in India and Make in India.

The highlight of the event was the keynote address given by Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog. Speaking at the event, Dr. Rajiv Kumar emphasized the sound economic fundamentals of India - enumerating a young working population, high savings rate and low levels of government debt as important positive indicators for the Indian economy.

This event saw senior level participation from the Chinese government- with Vice Minister of the Development Research Center of the State Council Mr. Wang Liming and Vice President CCPIT Mr. Chen Zhou gracing the event with their presence. Vice President CCPIT Mr. Chen Zhou spoke at the event and emphasized the potential for bilateral cooperation between India and China in the commercial and economic sectors.

The event also saw sector-Specific presentations made on the Renewable Energy and Food processing sectors in India by Dr. Bujaya Kumar Behera from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Shri Ruchin Gupta from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. There was a detailed presentation on the legal and regulatory framework in India by Mr. Zhang, Director, Ernst and Young Limited. Representatives from Chinese Companies like Huawei and Xiaomi shared their experience of investing successfully in India.

These presentations were followed by a Question and Answers session where representatives of Chinese companies raised specific queries on the taxation structure in India and the incentives offered to Chinese investors in India, especially in the Renewable Energy Sector.

The seminar received an overwhelming response with more than 270 representatives from more than 190 Chinese companies attending the event.

This seminar will be followed by another seminar on Investment Opportunities in India to be organized in Guiyang, Guizhou Province on 8th December 2017.
